Whilst trying to find solace and attempting to find the rest of his Tribe, he meets blind seer, Theresa. Throughout the game, Lionhead bring the relationship between Gabriel and Seren into the fray and it’s very good to see how the relationship and bond between the two develop as the game furthers.Īs like many youngsters, Gabriel tends to ‘slack’ and falls asleep which then makes him lose the rest of the Tribe on the way. Set 50 years after the events of Fable III, players are put into the role of young dweller, Gabriel, who is accompanied at his side by his trusty horse, Seren. Lionhead Studios are known for strong story telling in their games and with this title, it’s no different. With many Kinect titles out there, the story always seems to be short and sweet with no time to focus on getting to know the different characters and their traits, but it’s finally good to say that with Fable: The Journey, this has all changed. The decision to revive the series was apparently made, at least in part, because of the success of Sony’s new IP Horizon Zero Dawn. The fourth Fable game is reportedly in development at Playgrounds newly-opened second studio. It received mixed reviews when it launched in 2012, with much of the criticism directed at the poor motion controls.
The last full-fledged Fable game we saw was the Kinect-exclusive Xbox 360 game Fable: The Journey. One of Molyneux’s other wishes for Fable 4 is the inclusion of rideable dragons, as well as “god-sized giants.” This sounds similar to what we saw in The Ender Scrolls V: Skyrim, but we wouldn’t be opposed to the series going in that direction - it has certainly influenced the majority of role-playing games released this generation in one way or another. As role-playing games have adopted more action game elements and action games have used some role-playing mechanics, it would be refreshing to see this area of of the series overhauled.
